Home Décor for the Entryway and Living Room

Hello dear friends,

I hope you’re all doing well and easing back into the routine with the school year having started or about to start for some. I remember the transition time when we were kids and adjusting back to waking up earlier, doing homework, and studying. There is something sentimental about the schoolyear for me personally. I enjoyed school (the school work, but I suffered with social anxiety) and the start of the year as summer turned into autumn. It makes me think of warm evenings and fresh cut grass, my mom cooking dinner after we returned home from my parent’s flower shop, my dad watching Dateline or World News Tonight, and reading in my room drinking sweet tea. Those were the good ol’ days!

I’m sorting through photos of our previous home and want to share that space with you in pieces. I will start today with the entryway and the living room! Later I’ll move us through the formal dining room, kitchen, and breakfast area. Then I’ll share bits and pieces of the bedrooms and bathrooms.

Once our new home is fully renovated and picture ready, I’ll share details about it as well. So for now let’s take a look at the past for a home tour!

Welcome to our (previous) home! I was really excited about her and all the promises she held when we moved in.

I enjoyed having double doors but of course had to purchase double wreaths since our home before this had a single door. * Sigh * My non-holiday wreaths for the front door were flocked lamb’s ear wreaths from JoAnn’s. I liked them for their size, their fullness, and they held up well through the sun and heat. This wreath on Amazon looks very similar.

Welcome inside! This was our entryway that welcomed guests. =)

ENTRYWAY

We had really tall ceilings and needed some height with the mirror on the wall and wanted a console that felt a hint glam but also warm and welcoming. This console was decorated for fall, Halloween, Christmas, and Easter. I haven’t quite decorated much for the other holidays yet.

FOYER

  • As you walk towards the living room you pass through the foyer with our Brandi Farmhouse Round Pedestal Dining Table that I found on Wayfair. I really loved how this table blended well with the floors and the aesthetics of our home. The only downside to the table is that it easily shows water rings from when I hosted showers at my house and guests placed their cups on it. This means that this table wouldn’t be ideal as an actual dining table in my opinion, but works well for a foyer table. In fact, we’re using it as such in our current home as well.

  • We used a gold and glass Aimee Console to showcase picture frames. You can see it there in the background. I ordered it from Overstock at the time but it is also available at Amazon for a little less.

  • I spy Lorenzo and Luigi in the photos below! Plus, on the wall we have portraits of Lorenzo, Loretta, Luigi, and Prince from Crown and Paw.

When we moved to this home, I tried to use some of the furniture we already had, but the style of the former home was different and thus we purchased quite a few new things. I am always looking for a deal so when I found something I liked, I’d try to find it for less or something similar in style for less.

LIVING ROOM

  • We brought our Remington deep set sofa and coordinating Remington swivel chairs from our previous home. They are a neutral linen color called “Nomad Snow” so they go with everything.

  • Our Pascual coffee table is a dull gold with antique glass. It’s sold out on most sites, but I fount it here.

  • Our mirrored console tables came in a set of three (one console and two side tables that could nest underneath it). They have a beautiful texture on the front, mirrored tops, and have drawers for storage. It is sold out on Overstock where I originally purchased it but you can select to be notified (PS apparently Overstock merged with Bed Bath and Beyond 🤨). I found it on English Elm as well.

  • Our fireplace screen is a 3 panel screen so you can shift it as needed to fit your fireplace opening. We got this after our kitty tried to go behind the previous single panel gold screen that we had that went straight across. Our pups never tried to do that, only the kitty…but I immediately purchased this 3 panel screen so we wouldn’t have any risks!! The black three panel screen was what we used in our previous home before this one. It worked great with the aesthetic of that home.

  • We had super tall ceilings so I purchased extra long black out drapes in a heavy cotton in polo navy. I planned to use a velvet in the formal dining room so I wanted these to be a hint more casual. We never intended to open or close these two panels that hung in the living room so I purchased an appropriate sized curtain rod with acrylic diamond finials for that as well.

  • The faux flowers and tray are from Marshall’s and HomeGoods. Our lamps were finds from At Home.

  • I have a mix of pillows and pillow cushions throughout the house that are both inexpensive and mid-price range. For our living room I mixed patterns and sizes for pillow covers from both Coterie Brooklyn and Pottery Barn. You can click on the images below to be taken to the exact pillow cover. 🤍

Miscellaneous items:

  • Our linen tufted storage ottomans were from Target years ago and are no longer available but you can find something like that anywhere. They’re great to store the pups’ items and also for propping up feet when needed. This one here is similar.

  • I love the 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 wood wall decor hung up in the background. I had it hung at our home before this one and now I have it hung in our current home as well. I love the verse and that it’s neutral so easily flows into the decor.

POWDER BATHROOM

Here’s a little peek at the powder bathroom. The builder did great with the color choice, tile, and vanity.

MUD ROOM

  • Our mud room cabinets matched the kitchen island in Sherwin Williams “Sea Salt”.

  • I ordered a custom sized bench cushion in “Beige White”

  • I added Savannah handwoven seagrass baskets in size large from Pottery Barn. They were the closest fit in the actual size I needed and wanted because I wanted them to be taller so that any items in the basket would be mostly hidden. The baskets come in various sizes and also now come with lidded options which would have been nice to have, but the lidded baskets are different in size availability.

I hope you enjoyed the first bit of our (previous) home tour! I ended up sharing more than I thought I would about the décor, but that’s just how my mind unfolded. 😁 It was a really warm and welcoming home with a great layout downstairs. I’ll share the formal dining room, kitchen, and breakfast area next time as we continue the tour.
