Hello, dear friends!

I have so much on my heart and mind right now that I almost don’t know where to begin. In fact, I started this post on Sunday (May 31st) knowing that I would have to update it along the way because I don’t know precisely what to say. I changed the topic multiple times too. Part of me wanted to write about the lighthearted things I’ve wanted to share and part of me wanted to delve into what has been transpiring in our country recently. Now, almost a month has passed and I’m finally coming back to this post.

As if 2020 couldn’t get any worse - it did.

Do you ever stop to wonder if God is trying to tell us all something? There are so many similarities to stories in the Bible about plagues and of course the book of Revelations that come to mind frequently.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
— 1 Peter 5:8

I do not pretend to understand it all and what everyone is feeling. But, I do know I want to be a part of showing the world what Christ died to give us.

We need prayer. We need lots and lots of prayer. Jesus, please heal our country and our world.

I’ll stop there and I’m sure to edit this more and again throughout the week. I do not want to seem insensitive in any way and I am not even sure what to say much less the right thing to say. But, I can repeat to you that my heart hurts.

OK…so…I will do my best to brighten up the rest of this post. If you have read long until now, thank you.

I am linking up today to share these new favorite things with you.

Favorite #1

Shorts.

Now, to be honest I dislike shorts. I loved them when I was younger and had the legs of a 30 year old.

Those days are gone.

Not only are those days gone but now I have the hot flashes of a 50 year old.

So, shorts.

Last summer was brutal and I knew this summer I would have to give in. More than likely you will never seen me in shorts in public or if I am in public its a very close to home errand. That being said, I have appreciated having shorts on during our hot and humid days that we’ve had an ample supply of leading up to and including summer.

Apparently, 5 inch shorts are my thing now. In my early 30’s and before I liked 3 inch. No ma’am, no sir, no way now. I can’t handle them that short anymore. In the 5 inch I feel modest, I feel like they cover my problems, and I feel appropriate for my age.

I am LOVING these three pairs of shorts from Old Navy.

5” distressed denim shorts // button fly denim shorts// 5” linen blend shorts

Favorite #2

Books.

I’m slowly starting to run again and make no mistakes, I do not like working out in the heat. This means I spend my time on a treadmill and recently indulged in some romantic, easy-reading fiction on my Kindle App versus my usual self-help books.

Two books that I recently read and really enjoyed were:

The Lies That Bind had some unexpected twists in it and I kept expecting the story to end a certain way, but it turned out different than I anticipated. It stays pretty true to Emily Giffin’s style of writing though. She never lets me down!

The Summer House was so fun and sweet. I found myself smiling a majority of the time as I read it. The characters have a good, playful banter that made me happy. I hadn’t read anything by Jenny Hale before, but I definitely will again!

I just started The One That Got Away

Favorite #3

My running belt - fanny pack.

I decided to purchase a running fanny pack for when I go running outside. Despite my innermost flashbacks to having neon colored fanny packs as a child, I pulled the trigger. I never thought this day would come but it’s a much better option than locking my purse in my trunk!

It is available in seven color options.

Favorite #4

My handheld fan.

I don’t remember if I mentioned this device before, but I appreciate it so much every day. I get overheated VERY easily and this fan has been the answer.

I can prop it up by bending the handle backwards and voila! I use it while working at my desk. I place it on my treadmill when I’m running. I prop it up while I’m working out. I’ve taken it on walks when it’s humid and stagnant outside. I’ve used it bedside when I needed circulation. I only wish I had bought it sooner!

Favorite #5

Banana Republic Factory and Ann Taylor Factory.

I haven’t been to an outlet mall in maybe five years? I used to love them! Well, when they started selling “Factory” clothes online I never looked much at them because of the costs to mail back returns. Times have changed for online orders as well as I apparently live pretty close to an outlet mall and was able to zip over there to return what I didn’t like. (I wish I had realized I lived this close sooner!)

I recently ordered quite a few things on SUPER sale from both Banana Republic Factory and Ann Taylor Factory and was so pleased by the quality and the prices. They have a ton of cute stuff especially for work so I focused on staple items I could use forever and ever. I recommend checking them out and especially their clearance items! GREAT PRICES.

I won’t bother listing or linking anything since clearance items and sizes change so rapidly…just trust me.

Well that’s all I have for this week.

How was your week? Anything fun planned this weekend or are you taking precautions and staying home? I hate that Houston’s Covid-19 numbers have been rising again. I hope you’re all careful and safe whatever you decide to do!

XOXO
