My Skincare Routine

Gosh I just love cold weather! I feel like I can never get enough of it, especially being a native Houstonian. Our chilly days are typically short lived with fluctuating days within a seven day period of warm & humid weather mixed with cold fronts with dry & cold weather (or sometimes damp & cold weather).

I’m sure you’re well aware of how the weather influences your skin and aging, yet despite my skin being very oily year round it definitely takes on multiple personalities in the winter as it can still get excessively dry and flaky. Not good, right?

It’s only taken me 38 years to figure out what to do about it but I have finally discovered a natural skin care product that moisturizing my skin without chemicals, doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin and Rosacea, and doesn’t make me feel greasy after using it.

Only 38 years y’all. =/ That’s quite a bit of time.

Every morning I wipe off my face with cold water and either my Norwex body & face cloth or my Norwex makeup remover cloth. I like to use cold water because it wakes me up and feels fresh, plus waiting for the hot water to warm up takes too long. ;) Since I’m only using water, I can easily wipe around my eyes without irritating them like I used to do with traditional cleansers that would leave my eyes red and watering.

-The body and face cloth currently comes in 6 color options and I use this for my daily cleansing with just water. It easily removes makeup up and especially my mascara! The amount of natural exfoliating it provides depends upon the amount of water in the cloth. The more you wring out the cloth, the more exfoliating, but it is not exfoliating like a sugar scrub would be or the exfoliating face mitt below.

-The makeup remover cloth is a softer, suede-like feeling cloth that has no exfoliating components to it and in my opinion removes my heavy foundation best. It is great for sensitive skin like mine and I use it with just water as well.

-Sometimes I’ll do a little pass over with my (beloved) Norwex exfoliating face mitt, but I typically use this in the shower only. The exfoliating face mitt is double sided so one side is exfoliating (and feels uh-mazing) and the teal side is the same material as the makeup remover cloths which are suede like.

All three of these contain Norwex’s patented Baclock material: an antibacterial agent for self-cleansing purposes only. The agent is solely designed to inhibit odor from bacteria, mold and/or mildew growth within the product.

After I wash my face I rinse the cloth(s) clean, wring it out, rub the material against itself, and then hang it to dry. It self purifies as it dries because of the Baclock and you won’t have that nasty, sour smell!

I like to keep a makeup remover cloth in my purse to dab my face periodically when I’m on the go and it helps reduce any oil build up on my face.

At the end of the day or when I shower, I use the same cloths above depending upon if I wore makeup that day or not. It keeps the process so simple and my skin doesn’t get irritated or flare up with Rosacea like I used to have happen with face washes and soaps.

I used to use a hyaluronic acid moisturizer for my face and thankfully didn’t notice any bad reactions but I also didn’t notice a difference in my skin after about 3 minutes of using it. It would dry up and help temporarily but truthfully I never noticed an improvement otherwise with it or any other anti-aging type of cream. Grant it, I am admittedly not the best at maintaining my skin care regimen, but that has always been because my face is so red and flared with Rosacea as well as oily all the time as well as I have had many episodes with rashes. #supersensitiveskin

I began using Norwex’s Naturally Timeless skincare line after hearing that my aunt uses Norwex’s skincare products and loves it - and she, like me, has very sensitive skin/Rosacea/Eczema. I was intrigued and so glad I finally tried them. I was more interesting the anti-aging than the moisturizing and glow Lysere line since I am naturally glowing with oily skin. ;)

Day Cream // Firming Facial Serum // Anti-Gravity Night Cream // Radiant Eye Cream

These are made with botanical extracts, peptides, and plant-based ingredients. They are free of SLS, SLES, parabens, gluten, phthalates, artificial dyes and fragrances, and animal-derived ingredients.

I can’t speak on the Lysere Skin Care line but I can tell you I have seen the testimonials from people that I personally know and they love it. This line is meant for moisture and glow - and Lysere means '“light” in Norwegian and the products are made with powerful, plant-based nutrients and nourishing moisturization for naturally soft, smooth, radiant skin. Reach out to Jessica (my consultant) if you have any questions about it!

You can buy it in a full set or even just the daily day and night creams to save money or you can purchase the products individually.

Daily Face Moisture // Night Recovery Cream // Illuminating Oil // Renewing Eye Cream

The fun thing is I’ve had friends ask about my skin care routine because it is truly better than ever before with reduced Rosacea (one of many benefits!).

I truthfully hadn’t considered the side effects of all of the chemicals I was using on my body and around my home until the past year and I wish I had learned about this sooner. I know there are things I’ll likely never give up like my makeup and self tanner ;) but I also know the more steps I take the more I can help myself and my family live a non-toxic lifestyle.
