Statement Earrings

How do you feel about statement jewelry?
Do you prefer to keep it simple and classic when it comes to jewelry or do you have moments of accessorizing with statement pieces?
I am fond of both styles, statement and classic/simple, but I tend to opt for statement pieces!
There was a time in my life when I wore nothing but stud earrings of any kind - they just had to be studs. During that season of my life I wore necklaces every.single.day. I loved dainty necklaces which are back in style now with all of the layering looks. Then I got into statement necklaces while my sister was working with a small company that hand made gorgeous statement pieces and I was able to see how they styled them with basic t-shirts to cocktail dresses. I was in AWE!
Somewhere along the way I shifted to statement earrings and haven’t turned back yet.
Five reasons why statement earrings elevate your outfit:
1) They draw attention to you from other people
2) They draw attention upwards from your outfit
3) They keep attention upwards from a low(er) neckline
4) They add a pop of color or sparkle to the most simple of outfits
5) They are easy to add to an outfit for extra oomph while not having to have something hanging around your neck or snagging on your outfit
So here’s my FOUR categories of what I look for when choosing statement earrings to buy or to wear:
Category 1: a pop of COLOR
Regardless if you’re wearing a colorful outfit or a monochromatic outfit - a pop of colorful earrings will add a subtle statement to the outfit. You can choose statement stud earrings or statement hanging earrings depending upon your hair and outfit neckline.
Category 2: a pop of METAL
Do you prefer silver or gold? Does your outfit look better with silver or gold? Choose earrings accordingly! Large earrings can be sleek and chic.
Category 3: a pop of SPARKLE
Want a little pizazz? Going to a nice dinner or special event? Sparkling earrings catch the eye from across the room. Depending upon your hairstyle and outfit’s neckline, you can choose a wide array of various sparklers to compliment your outfit and lure the eye upwards to your face.
Category 4: a pop of MOVEMENT
This can go either way depending upon your preferences of course. I like a little movement in my earrings but I don’t want them flopping around as I talk. That being said, there is also issues with some of them catching in longer hair. If you have shorter hair I think the larger the earrings and the more movement the better!
These are but a small selection from each category of course. My ideas was to provide with a starting point to consider these big and bold and colorful earrings to snazz up your outfits - whether at the beach, on vacation, dressed casually, for work, or dressed up. Most of inexpensive and can really change up your outfit and whole look!
