Hello friends,

Happy Wednesday! How’s your week treating you so far?

February is coming to a close and I am grateful this month was shorter than the 6 months of January. February is a busy month of birthdays and semi-holidays, plus kicks off the Houston Rodeo BBQ Cookoff. The end of February sort of signifies the beginning of spring as March brings spring break(s) and patio friendly weather.

As usual, I am linking up to share my monthly recap on the last Wednesday of the month.

If you’re new(er) to my blog site, this is what we recap every month:

What we're eating this week:

I’m heading to Galveston for a few days this week so it is safe to say that we’ll be eating out this week, again. Next week I hope to do the Prolon Fasting Mimicking Diet from Monday to Friday to reset my body and promote autophagy. I am beyond overdue on eating healthier post the half marathon training!

You can purchase the 5 day “fasting mimicking diet” here. I promise you, it is worth the price.

What I'm reminiscing about:

Previous trips around the globe and all of the fun memories made. I had the opportunity to share some stories about some of the trips recently and my mind started to reminisce about all of my travel adventures. I have been very fortunate to have had the means and ample paid time off to travel a lot when I was single and working as well as in married life. Traveling and vacationing brings me joy. Perhaps I should have pursued the elusive dream of being a travel writer…it would have been pretty darn amazing.

What I'm loving:

Soft pajamas.

I purchased the Joyspun brand of (holiday) pajamas in December and was shocked at how soft they are. The price point is a steal at $17. They’re thinner material which is perfect for Houston’s incessant heat. I just purchased three more sets of the short sleeve notch collared pajamas (pictured below). I haven’t tried the velour styles which I’d imagine are warmer for those of you who are either cold natured or live in colder climates. There’s a bunch of different styles available and their sizes range from XS to 3X. I’ll spare you a dozen photos of me in pajamas, but here is one pair and a couple of links to take you to them.

What we've been up to:

February was lovely in that it was no longer January.

I enjoyed dinner, lunches, and brunches with friends and family. I was fortunate to finally meet my cousin’s little angel baby girl, Seilah, and my dear friend’s sweet baby girl, Faye, this month. I also celebrated Lily’s 1st birthday (one of my bestie’s little ones).

February 6th was my dad’s heavenly birthday. February 7th was my Great Aunt Veila’s heavenly birthday. February 8th was my Granny’s heavenly birthday. February 12th was my bestie’s birthday (Amanda). February 13th was Lorenzo’s 6th birthday and we celebrated him with a “little monkey” theme because monkeys have always been his favorite toy(s). If you missed my post about pet birthday party ideas click here.

Then I dashed to Knoxville, TN, to visit with my family there. I am grateful I was able to see them and hug them all. I didn’t get to visit with Mammaw as much as I had planned to and hoped to because of a situation restricting visitors at her facility, but I did get to hug her and spend a little bit of time with her which warmed my heart. We also managed to visit my dad & Marie’s bench at Lakeshore Park to watch the sunrise one morning. It was raining the rest of the time there so I am glad we had that one spectacular sunrise.

I am also grateful I was able to spend some extra quality time with my sister this month. She and I made a mad dash to Asheville, NC, for a quick overnight trip which was relaxing (spa time), hysterical (piano bar), and memorable for many reasons including meeting a young couple who had just gotten engaged!

I also ventured to the Houston Rodeo BBQ Cookoff one evening and had the best time. Great company, great music, great food.

Pictured below is a cute photo of my mom and her bestie, Sandy. We went to dinner one night and they looked like two beautiful peas in a pod discussing the menu. 😊

What I'm dreading:

I am not a fan of dreading anything and thankfully, for now, I do not have anything to dread.

What I'm working on:

  • My health and fitness.

  • My blog, as usual. My motivation wanes at times when life gets busy, but I still have a list of things to share.

  • I am hopeful to make some decisions soon to finalize the lingering project ideas around the house. I want to pick out paint color options for my office as well as potentially adding/changing the gold and glass etageres I currently have in there.

What I'm excited about:

Spring! In general I am excited for spring. I enjoy cold weather and bundling up in the winter, but this winter was a hard season (emotionally) so I am sort of looking to spring as the promise of a new season, leaving the old season behind, and also the lovely weather that spring entails. PATIO WEATHER!

What I'm watching/reading:

Watching:

I have been watching “romance” movies this month because of Valentine’s Day such as: PS I Love You, Something’s Got to Give, Sweet Home Alabama, Just Friends, The Proposal, The Princess Bride, Book Club (hysterical by the way), and Book Club: The Next Chapter, and You’ve Got Mail.

I spent many evenings watching Frank and Gracie as well. I had seen some episodes of this years ago when my mom was watching it but I never did watch all of the series and goodness IT IS FUNNY! I have laughed at the dialogue so much. Great show.

I also finally watched the last couple of episodes of the Virgin River. I really enjoyed the series.

Reading:

I haven’t used the treadmill as much this month so my reading is a bit behind, again.

This month I read:

I finally finished the second half of this book and HIGHLY recommend:

I am still working through this devotional. It is thought provoking and helping my heart.

I hope to finish this one soon when I can check it out again through the Libby app.

You can click this link or scroll to the top of the page and click on “Books” to view all of the self-help books I’ve read if you are considering a topic and want a suggestion.

What I'm listening to:

I have been listening to worship music quite a bit lately, Tool (because someone mentioned it and I went down memory lane with music I used to love, and of course my running playlists.

What I'm wearing:

I’ve been adding more and more to my LTK profile throughout the month so you can always follow along with me there to see what outfits or (HOLIDAY) home décor items I’m sharing! There are outfits on there that didn’t make it out of the house yet OR that I didn’t take a photo of when I wore it in real life.

A little bit from this last 30-ish days:

You will see this bodysuit a lot below, both in this color and in black. I purchased it in various arm lengths and neck styles because I love it that much. I do not feel like I’m wearing a bodysuit at all! Very comfortable material and length.

PS. I found these jeans at a thrift store in Canyon Lake, TX, and took the risk of spending a whopping $1.75 for a brand new pair of jeans I had not tried on. Goodness, I ended up loving them.

I warned you. =) Here it is in black with one of my favorite skorts. I own this skort in three colors. Also, Nine West has been having excellent end of season sales on all of their boots and booties and I can’t rave about mine enough.

Same bodysuit, totally different day. I wore this outfit to brunch and to meet my cousin’s baby girl. I was very comfortable and felt a hint stylish.

I found this pretty spring maxi dress for some formal portraits and I admit I felt SO PRETTY in it even though it is not my usual go-to color(s). I’m glad I tried it and kept it. It is a hint loose and I’m wearing an XS.

I wore this cute, cut out maxi dress in Cancun last month and loved it more than I expected to. I wouldn’t normally show so much skin, but when in the Caribbean it felt appropriate. It now comes in 3 color/pattern options. I purchased a Petite XS for the length and I could have worn flat sandals with it. I’m 5’4”-ish so I’m typically on the cusp of being able to wear petite lengths or regular lengths if I intend to wear heels.

I wore this cute dress in Cancun as well and just ordered it in another color. It was very comfortable and true to size! It comes in EIGHT colors.

I liked this sweater so much I bought it in two colors. It’s a nice, thicker material. I found it on two sites (and of course I purchased from the cheaper site) and was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t get to wear it in real life because our weather didn’t allow for it (I get too hot) but I will excitedly wear this when I travel somewhere cold. It comes in other colors, too!

There are plenty more outfits and decor ideas I’ve shared this past month on my LTK page in addition to these above. You do not pay anything extra to shop through my page there and setting up your profile is FREE. I earn a small commission from the various retailers for free marketing for them at no extra cost to you.

You can view most of these details on my LiketoKnow. It page OR email me. =)

What I'm doing this weekend:

God willing, this weekend will remain a quiet one so that I can do things around the house to get caught up on my never ending to-do’s.

What I'm looking forward to next month:

Patio weather! I do not currently have much planned for March, though I have trip ideas simmering that just need me to execute planning. To be determined…

What else is new:

That’s about it for now!
