Hello sweet friends (and family!),

October is coming to an end and I need a lobotomy. I cannot emphasize enough how many times I sat down to look at my calendar to consider November and December’s appointments, requirements, obligations, and hopes of things to plan and literally got emotional. I hate that this time of year flies by so quickly after waiting for it all year long. I hate that there’s never enough time to attend all of the events, enjoy all of the festive places, watch all of the holiday movies, and bask in the warmth and nostalgia of the holiday season. Yet, here we are. It is upon us. October’s finale of Halloween is approaching this weekend. It’s all happening too fast. =(

I am linking up again to share my monthly recap on the last Wednesday of each month.

If you’re new(er) to my blog site, this is what we recap every month:

What I’m eating this week:

Our weather is a hint cooler this week and even on the warmer days our humidity has been lower and I am overjoyed. With the “fall” feeling the weather brings I have been thinking of chili. I recently made my green chili recipe (verde chili), however I added northern beans instead of butternut squash.

I think this week I will pull out the regular chili previously made from the freezer and maybe make a crock pot dish from one of my favorite Slow Cooker/Low Carb/Keto/Paleo adaptable cook books as well. I’ve previously made many dishes from this cookbook and my mom and I loved every single one.

Otherwise I will be eating random things like a can of soup, salad mixes, or eating out.

Click here to view a former post with all of the many recipes I have shared that have pumpkin or butternut squash in them including a Paleo chili (thus, no beans).

You can view all of the recipes I have shared by clicking here. You can also utilize the search function at the top right of the screen to search key words for recipes.

What I'm reminiscing about:

October 2024. It was a great month full of fun. Family in town. Multiple birthday celebrations. Lots of time with friends. Travel. Halloween. It almost feels like yesterday and yet it feels like five years ago.

What I'm loving:

My new Halloween decor additions. Since I shared my fall/Halloween home tour, I actually purchased a few things. I added some orange lights from Walmart around my front door after noticing many of my neighbors having Halloween lights. The lights and the pre-lit witches’ brooms make me very happy and very excited for my Christmas lights to be installed soon. I also picked up these two paper machete ghosts from Walmart. I had been eyeballing them but didn’t want to add more decor. Well, I caved.

Grandin Road sent me a free $50 reward to spend before Oct. 31st and after debating on purchasing something fall/Halloween related or Christmas (which I too much of), I acquiesced and picked out some Halloween clearance items + free shipping. So, I spent $0.66 on the stoneware fire pumpkins for outside and the phantom faced pumpkin set.

What I've been up to:

This month flew by. I traveled for fall foliage. I am ramping up my running again for a half marathon in December. I attended birthday celebrations and fall themed events.

What I'm dreading:

I am dreading the holidays passing by too quickly. =(

What I'm working on:

I am working on my mental and physical health as always, half marathon training, and keeping up with sharing blog content when the moment strikes.

What I'm excited about:

I’m attending a Lord Huron concert in Houston tonight! I love this band and am excited to see them again (I saw them in May in Boise, ID).

I am also super excited to transition my home from fall/Halloween to Christmas. I usually start decorating on November 1st because I have SO MANY CHRISTMAS TREES and will be helping to decorate the previous house as well. My outdoor Christmas lights are scheduled to be put up on November 3rd. =)))

What I'm watching/reading:

Watching:

I have put Desperate Housewives on hold for now. I’m somewhere in season 6. I’ve been “watching” my favorite Halloween movies on repeat until Oct. 17th when Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas started and well…it’s difficult to turn back to Halloween movies.

Reading:

I just finished The Opposite of Settling and really liked it’s message and content.

I’m currently reading Great Big Beautiful Life.

You can click this link or scroll to the top of the page and click on “Books” to view all of the self-help books I’ve read if you are considering a topic and want a suggestion.

What I'm listening to:

I currently have Hallmark Christmas on the TV in the background and sometimes a YouTube fall scene with jazz music. I will be switching to Christmas music very soon. =)))

What I'm wearing:

I’ve been adding more and more to my LTK profile throughout the month so you can always follow along with me there to see what outfits or home décor items I’m sharing! There are outfits on there that didn’t make it out of the house yet OR that I didn’t take a photo of when I wore it in real life.

Athleisure on repeat.

What I'm doing this weekend:

I will be decorating for Christmas at my house and the previous house...AND the pups and I have our Christmas card photo shoot on Sunday. I love receiving Christmas cards of any kind and especially with photos in them. I genuinely look at them over and over and usually wait a year or two to throw any of them away (if I throw them away). I like to see the families grow and change, especially the little ones. So, even though it’s just me and my misfits I still want to send Christmas cards because of the smiles they bring to me.

What I'm looking forward to next month:

I’m excited for November for many reasons: the holiday feels, birthdays, travel, Friendsgiving, Thanksgiving, and family time.

What else is new:

That’s about it for now!
