Home Tour and Updates - Part 5 - Master Bedroom and Bathroom
Hello friends,
We’ve made it to December and to the end of my home tour. Hooray!
I want to share this last bit of before and after photos of my master bedroom and bathroom before I share a holiday home tour this month.

Let’s get this party started.
Welcome (back) to my home!

MASTER BEDROOM UPDATES:
I changed the primary closet flooring from carpet to as close as possible to the wood flooring in the bedroom. The secondary closet is attached to the bathroom and thus has tile flooring.
I had the walls painted Benjamin Moore “Deep Caviar”. I am obsessed with this color, still. I considered having the ceiling painted as well but am glad I didn’t because the room has TERRIBLE lighting with only the ceiling fan light and late afternoon sun. It would have looked good, but it would have been a literal cave.
I added dusty rose curtains to coordinate with the velvet quilt I purchased. The previous owner’s left the curtain rod and it blends in with the wall color so I used it.

MASTER BATHROOM UPDATES:
I couldn’t stand the green river rock tile on the shower floor and wall stripe so I had it replaced with a basic white hexagon floor tile and this pretty marble mosaic tile to coordinate with the grey subway tile. It was too expensive to retile the entire shower and I couldn’t find a precise match for the subway tile to attempt to eliminate the stripe feature that I despise SO MUCH. However, I am very pleased with the marble mosaic tile as the updated alternative. In a perfect world I would have retiled the entire thing to get rid of the grey subway tile as well. I didn’t want to invest a lot into it at the time because life was and is ever changing and I don’t know how long I will live here. For that same reason, I left the rest of the bathroom as it was/is for now…

My DIY plans for the master bathroom after the holidays:
Paint the walls white to match the trim
Possibly replace that giant (basic) mirror but it depends on if I can find one that size or more likely go with two separate mirrors. Two would be my preference, but I recognize the benefit of having one the length of the counter.
Update the cabinet and drawer pulls.
Possibly replace all of the faucets and shower stuff. This can get pricey and while I’d rather switch to gold I also don’t want to spend a lot on a house I may not live in forever.
Likely replace the accessories (towel bars and toilet paper holder type of stuff) even if still brushed nickel. I do not love the basic ones that are there (and that were in every bathroom in this house).
Replace the vanity lighting (same comment as above).
Use the grout pens to freshen up the floor tile grout and the shower wall grout.
That completes the tour of my upstairs master bedroom and bathroom AND the full house tour (minus the laundry room that I didn’t bother to show you). I hope you enjoyed viewing my space. It feels good here and I’ve enjoyed making it more “mine”. I may tackle painting all of the doors next year and eventually epoxy the garage floor. I sort of ran out of steam after the last project and battling the allergy nightmare at that time. That being said, the master bathroom bothers me every.single.day. so that DIY mini makeover will definitely happen.
I’d love to hear your thoughts as well as any home updates you might have completed this past year OR may tackle next year! Comment below. =)
