Hi there, friends.
The holidays are here and I know this month is going to fly by. I spent Thanksgiving and the weekend mostly at home with the pups which means I spent some time knocking out the bulk of my holiday shopping online during the “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday” week of sales. It’s comical to me that it’s most certainly not a one-day thing anymore, but I’m here for it.
Anyway, given how quickly the month flies by I plan to only share this one gift idea post versus multiple gift guide posts. Most of my previous gift guide posts are still relevant as many of the items are still available so no need to reinvent the wheel, ya know? Plus, my tastes and preferences for gifting haven’t radically changed either. ;)
Let’s get to it!
Make sure to pin this to Pinterest to save it or share it.
In no particular order:
1) The Sonic Fusion Waterpik 2.0. I cannot express how much I love this toothbrush & water flosser combo, which is why I continue to share it over and over again because if you haven’t purchased it yet, you need to. You will not regret and you will thank me later. So will your dentist. It’s worth every penny. And, if your budget is tight you can easily share it with your significant other because the toothbrush head detaches so you can swap out the toothbrushes easily.
2) The Battery Daddy. I continue to share this over and over again as well because I literally think to myself, “I love this thing!” every.single.time I open it. It’s just so oddly pleasing to have organized batteries. And I’ve heard the same feedback from those I have gifted it to as well. Trust me.
3) Throw blankets. This may seem silly, but it’s kind of nice receiving a gift that invites a cozy evening while upgrading an old throw blanket to a new one. Sometimes it’s just nice to have a new one.
I am currently obsessing over this $5.97 throw from Walmart. It comes in six pattern options, but I am seriously struggling to refrain from purchasing this nutcracker patterned throw for everyone on my list. Like, I have been thinking about it, for real. It’s SO SOFT and more neutral than the other options even with the colorful nutcrackers.
For men, think of their favorite colors or favorite sports team.
For little ones, think of their favorite colors, favorite characters, or favorite themes (rocket ships, boats, dinosaurs, fairies, unicorns).
4) Soft pajamas, especially holiday pajamas, have been on my radar these past few years. I have made a concerted effort to wear holiday pajamas every day as a way to boost my festive spirit. The holidays pass too quickly. That being said, I have also “invested” in purchasing new pajamas for myself because I’ve tended to wear non-pajama-jammies for years (think random work out shorts and random tops). I realized that I talked myself out of buying pajamas over and over again because it felt like a waste of money to purchase for myself, which is why I think it’s actually a great gift. Plus, it feels good to put on a soft pajama set in the evenings. SOFT is the key word. Some of my favorite brands:
Walmart: Joyspun Dreamy Soft Collection (holiday prints and non-holiday prints) - soft jersey knit sets. They also have velour sets and fleece sets if you live in colder climates.
*The pants below are Joyspun’s holiday print from 2024.
Old Navy: They have pajamas for the entire family that can match for the holidays. I prefer the soft jersey knit options because Houston is typically warm and can be in the winter months as well. But, they have flannel, fleece, and waffle knit options as well.
Shop Women’s Pajamas // Shop Men’s Pajamas // Shop Children’s Pajamas // Shop Toddler & Baby Pajamas
Amazon: It’s just easy to find most everything here. I’ve purchased jersey knit sets and nightgowns both in solids and holiday prints through the years. Obviously you can find jammies for everyone on here.
5) Comfortable loungewear or athleisure. I personally default to Old Navy for both men and women. They have soft and affordable athletic and athleisure wear that rival the more expensive brands at a fraction of the price. My favorites:
MEN: the “Recharge Knit” line, the “Dynamic Fleece” line, and the “Cloud Motion” line.
WOMEN: the “Powersoft” line for exercise, the “Studio Smooth” line for athleisure, and the “Dynamic Fleece” line for warmth that is not overbearing with heat like their (and any) full fleece item.
You’ve seen me in these a dozen times over on my blog and LTK posts so I won’t bog you down with photos. Here’s one photo example of each line. =)
6) Massages or Mani/Pedi gift certificates. These may seem like an obvious idea but tossing it in the line up for good measure. I love massages, but rarely spend the money on them for myself so receiving a gift certificate for a relaxing experience is a treat.
The same can go for manicures and pedicures. Whether the recipient gets them regularly or doesn’t spend the money on them, it is a nice gift. And I see PLENTY of men in the nail salons getting their nails cleaned up. It is relaxing. HINT: try to purchase from the recipient’s usual nail salon if possible.
7) Experiences. This is something that has become more important to me. I can essentially buy whatever I want, when I want. So while I appreciate a thoughtful (physical) gift, receiving a gift certificate for an experience, a restaurant, or tickets to an event is a treat. Yes, it may take some crafty planning if it’s an experience or an event because of calendar dates. But, it allows the recipient to attend something they may not have wanted or been able to spend the money on OR might not have even known about the event. And a restaurant gift certificate allows the recipient to dine out whenever they want to without worrying about their budget. I consider these really nice gifts for that reason.
Examples: concerts, rooftop movies, cooking classes, holiday events, calligraphy classes (I tried a fall themed one recently and loved it), DIY classes (I wanted to go to a wreath making one this month!), jazz clubs, speakeasies, wine or cocktail pairing dinners, themed brunches, festive pop up bars, galas sponsoring a charity that supports a cause they believe in.
8) Lottery tickets or scratch offs. I like to gift these in stockings because it’s fun and who knows? The recipient may win something. =) Whether the person likes to play the lottery or not, it draws excitement when scratching off the cards or checking numbers after the next lottery draw happens. You can always wrap them in a box or bag, put them in a card, or put them directly into a stocking. Whichever way, it’s one size fits all.
9) Personalized coffee mugs, tumblers, or ornaments. These are things I like to make in Shutterfly each year using our most recent Christmas card photo or a significant photo from the year. It’s also a very sweet, sentimental gift if the recipient experienced a loss this year be it a family member or a beloved pet - but approach those with caution of course depending on the recipient and your relationship with them.
I also like the idea of giving an ornament that is personally picked out because it reminded you of the recipient or is possibly from a trip you took together. It’s thoughtful and sentimental.
You can also simply frame your favorite photo together or your favorite photo of their’s.
For anyone with kiddos or pets: think about handprints, footprints, and pawprints to make gifts.
10) Holiday decor gifts. Yes, I love all things Christmas. But, this applies to whichever holiday is the recipient’s favorite. You can purchase something during Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween, etc. and save it to give as a Christmas gift. I literally know who gave me each and every decor item or ornament that I didn’t purchase myself. I don’t know why I am the way that I am, but I remember it all and because I do, I think of the gift-giver every time I look at said item. My favorite places to shop for any holiday: Marshall’s, Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Ross, Walmart, Target, Hobby Lobby, At Home, Kirklands, and Grandin Road to name a few. =)))
11) An advent countdown to Christmas (or New Year’s Eve). It’s a little late to do a full 25 day advent, but you can still create one for the 15th - 25th or the 15th - 31st or the 25th - 31st as a countdown. It doesn’t have to be elaborate and it doesn’t have to have expensive gifts in them. See my previous advent projects here.
You can do a countdown of date night ideas in envelopes. You can do a countdown of family game nights. You can do a countdown of family movie nights. You can mix in small gifts like cozy socks, a dvd, candy, popcorn, hot chocolate, jammies, holiday hair bows or jewelry, etc. It can also be notes to open each day for the recipient to read kind things you think/feel about them.
I previously made some for littles and used an over the door shoe rack and stuffed it with small gifts, or acts of service, tissue paper, and the date. I’ve also made one for Valentine’s Day using small gift bags numbered for each day.
It’s the thought, the excitement and anticipation of opening something new the next day, and the experience of an advent countdown. It’s fun and exciting for all ages.
I’ll wrap this up there, friends. If you’ve followed along with me for a while then you know I have plenty of ideas and like I said in the beginning, my tastes haven’t changed much through the years. You can check out my previous Christmas gift guides here. Many of the items will still be available.
